Results and Effectiveness
Most people notice brighter, more hydrated-looking skin within one to two weeks of daily use. For fine lines, texture, and dark spots, allow four to eight weeks of consistent use. Scalp results take longer — six to twelve weeks — because hair follicles work on a slower cycle. Consistency matters more than session length: short daily sessions outperform long occasional ones.
Red and near-infrared wavelengths pass through the outer layer of skin and are absorbed by mitochondria, the parts of your cells that produce energy. Researchers call this photobiomodulation, and it has been studied extensively across dermatology and wound healing. What that means in practice varies from person to person.
Professional LED facials typically run $100 to $300 per session and use the same category of technology. PureLuma delivers comparable irradiance at home for a one-time cost. A clinic session is more powerful; a device you own is one you'll actually use daily.
Using the Products
Face mask, 10 to 20 minutes. Under-eye mask, 10 to 15 minutes. Scalp brush, 10 to 15 minutes. Knee pad, 15 to 20 minutes. Desktop panel, 10 to 20 minutes per area. Don't exceed the recommended times — longer sessions don't produce better results.
Daily use gives the best results, ideally five to seven times per week. Once you reach the results you want, three to four sessions a week is enough to maintain them.
After cleansing, before serums and moisturiser. Clean, dry skin lets the light through without a barrier. Apply your products right after the session.
Yes — they're designed to work alongside each other. A simple routine is scalp brush, then under-eye mask, then face mask. Each covers a different area, so there's no overlap.
Safety and Skin Type
Red light therapy is non-invasive, UV-free and drug-free, and has been used in clinical settings for decades. PureLuma devices operate within irradiance levels intended for daily home use. If you have a skin condition, are pregnant, or take medication that increases light sensitivity, speak with your doctor before starting.
Red light therapy is generally suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, dry, oily and combination. If you have a diagnosed condition such as rosacea or eczema, check with your dermatologist first.
No. You'll feel gentle warmth and see bright red light through closed eyelids. Most people find it relaxing. If anything feels uncomfortable, stop the session and lower the intensity.
The face mask has a built-in eye shield and is used with eyes closed. The desktop panel comes with goggles — use them. Never look directly into the LEDs.
