Red light sits at the long end of the visible spectrum — long enough to pass the outer layer of skin instead of stopping at it. Here's what happens in a ten-minute session.
The light reaches past the surface
Red wavelengths penetrate deeper than visible light at the blue end of the spectrum, reaching the dermal layer where the structural proteins in skin live. Shorter wavelengths scatter at the surface; these don't.
Cells absorb it
Mitochondria — the parts of a cell that produce its energy — contain a light-sensitive enzyme that absorbs red wavelengths. This is the mechanism researchers refer to as photobiomodulation.
Consistency does the rest
A single session is a single stimulus. What matters is repetition — most protocols run daily or near-daily sessions over several weeks, which is why the mask is built for ten minutes rather than an hour.
